Civil servants to receive RM500 bonus before Dec 25

PUTRAJAYA: Civil servants will receive the RM500 one-off payment along with their salary to be paid before Dec 25.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said this would be the first time that bonus payment would be made in the same year.

Before this, bonuses were paid in the following year, he said.

"There is no allocation for (such) payment in the 2018 Budget, but the government will find resources and ways to give civil servants the bonus.

"We hope that the Sales and Service Tax will provide us with additional revenue for the payment," he said on Tuesday (Nov 13).

In the 2019 Budget, the Pakatan Harapan government had announced the RM500 one-off payment for civil servants Grade 54 and below.

It also will award the same amount to eligible pensioners receiving less than RM1,000 monthly while other pensioners are to be given RM250.
