MUAR: Cuepacs plans to operate its five Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) shops round-the-clock just like 7-Eleven outlets, its president Datuk Omar Osman said.
“We will look for the most suitable sites in the country to set up our KR1M shops. We want them to really serve those in the low income groups,” he said after attending Muar Municipal Council’s open day gathering.
He said Cuepacs’ KR1M outlets would be managed and operated by Cuepacs’ cooperative body and expected to hire at least 25 workers.
He said Cuepacs was grateful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razakfor allocating the five outlets to Cuepacs.
Omar said he would also ensure all Cuepacs’ KR1M shops were professionally managed as they could generate greater economic growth for the cooperative.
He said if the operations were successful, the five outlets could earn revenue of about RM500,000 every year. Cuepacs may also apply for additional outlets.
