KUALA LUMPUR: Cuepacs has expressed disappointment that the new Transformative Remuneration System (SST) failed to upgrade around 80,000 civil servants in the technical, agriculture and forestry sectors.
Its president Datuk Omar Osman said Cuepacs expected the upgrade for these sectors to be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in his address at the 13th National Gathering of Civil Servants in Putrajaya yesterday.
Omar said an additional 166,000 civil servants ranked between grades one to 10 were also not upgraded.
“Many of our members present at the gathering expressed disappointment that they were left out. We have decided to send a protest letter to the PM and Chief Secretary to the Government tomorrow afternoon,” he said after an emergency meeting with the sector representatives yesterday.
Omar explained these were not new demands by Cuepacs as it had lobbied for better service schemes for those in these sectors for over 10 years.
“If the Government agrees, it will definitely inject a new spirit into the civil servants,” he said.
Omar hopes to receive a reply from the Government before April 5, as Cuepacs will hold a protest against the Public Service Department that day if nothing was done.
Cuepacs vice-president (technical sector) Suhaimi Othman said the Government had been promising to upgrade the technical service scheme since 1985.
