CUEPACS Appeal For Early Bonus Payment

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) has appealed to the government to pay bonus to civil servants in early January 2015 to alleviate their financial burden due to floods that has hit several states.

CUEPACS president Datuk Azih Muda said considering the fact that school supplies purchased by civil servants for their children were damaged due to floods, paying bonus early would enable them to prepare for school opening.

"We understand the government's concern with the announcement of early payments for the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and by delaying the start of the schooling session, so Cuepacs hopes the government can also consider early bonus for civil servants.

"If the bonus payments are brought forward, perhaps the parents can prepare their children for school reopening," he said in a press conference at Wisma Cuepacs here, today.

In October, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, while tabling the 2015 Budget, announced a half-month bonus or a minimum of RM500 for about 1.5 million civil servants and said that it would be paid together with their salary in January 2015.
